The Challenge

Saturday August 25th was the first official day of the ITU Montreal, presented by Sportium. The competitions were launched at    7:00 am with the BDC Challenge, in support of the Prince of Wales Operation Entrepreneur Foundation. A record, 40 teams were on the start line and more than 120 participants were up for the challenge ! Participating teams could complete their sprint triathlon (750m swim, 20k bike and 5k run) together or in relay.



The relay was won by the Canadian Olympic Committee team (Sharon Donnelly, Derek O'Farrel et Olya Ovtchinnikova), followed in 2nd place by the Via Rail team (Marjolaine Gagné, Maxime Labrie et Mélanie Rodriguez) and by the Keurig team  (Catherine Richard, Jean-Philippe Racine et Yan Balthazar)  for the 3rd step of the podium. The Telus team (Ann-Julie Tremblay, Marc-Olivier Archambault et Sarah Khoudaja-Pichette) won the triathlon together, leaving 2nd and 3rd place respectively for a BDC team (Dominic Vaillancourt, Jorge Oliveira et René Lepage) and Biron health group (Antoine Bégin, Catherine Drouin-Audet et Daniel Plante).

The morning continued in the VIP zone, where the teams were able to celebrate their performance and interact with the other teams. During the celebration cocktail, the BDC Challenge participants enjoyed the open bar and unlimited food!


At 12:00, DJ Abeille with Melissa Lavergne opened the hostilities with an energizing musical show just before the start of the ITU Women's World Triathlon Series, won by Vicky Holland (GBR). The teams were able to attend this race from the VIP terrace, located along the finish line.
